Just started to play this game and am really enjoying it. Belatedly realised there are mods available for it. Can anyone recommend any. Oh, if there is any similar games to this, let me know too. I have the first one, Oblivion, Morrowind and all the Fallouts

    cheers

    There's a load of mods here: http://knightsoftheoldrepublic.filefront.com/files/Knights_of_the_Old_Republic_II/Mods;5555

So you can pick and choose from them. Other than that, Dragon Age: Origins would be a safe bet. Or for a more action orientated game, Mass Effect or Mass Effect 2.

I don't have a link for this but, the game was a bit unfinished when released and a group have been adding the content from the disc that was not used as it was not finished at release. it adds a whole new world that was meant to be part of the story.

Yeah I saw that over in the mods page. Looks good. In the middle of the game atm, so might just finish it off and start afresh with mods. Cheers for the recommendation humanji. Don't think my PC will run the newer games too well though, might tip over to the system requirements lab.

Neverwinter Nights is a very similar game to the KOTORs, but fantasy. Also, the story of the main game is pants, but the expansions are very good, and there's an awful lot of great user made modules available online.

I only ever played KOTOR 1 which I thought was an excellent game. Never got around to playing the sequel though. To echo the above posters, I would highly recommend Mass Effect 1 and 2 as they feel very similar to KOTOR.

Here's the list of BioWare games as per Wikipedia. Take your pick - they are all brilliant. Jade Empire is one of my favourites.

It worries me that I've played all but two of those. :o

One thing that list doesn't show is the sequels they licensed out to other studios. Neverwinter Nights 2, KOTOR 2 etc. are all excellent too.

If you haven't played the first KotOR I strongly recommend it. The second is renowned for not really having an ending. The ending was rushed to make release day and it's fairly awful, to be honest. There is a restoration mod in the works to give it a true ending, as far as I remember. But yeah, great game either way.

I have it on disc, but can't play it on the Windows 7 Pc (tried all the solutions out there). Have heard good things about it alright though.

Thanks everyone else for your help, good selections there to choose from alright. :D

    I got KotoR working on windows 7 64 bit with little trouble;
pretty sure you just patch it to 1.03 and the crash fix and it should work, the only thing i had trouble with was getting it to run in widescreen.

Thanks for this thread guys. I had just worked through Dragon Age ending last weekend and have played both KotOR games and Mass Effect and Assasains Creed. So I was coming on here to get recommendations for where to go next. The tips above sound great and I have moved to get Neverwinter and Jade Empire.

Tried out Oblivion, Morrowind and a game called The Witcher but gave up on them both after little more than a couple of hours play. The combat systems in them just are not my thing with the whole wait for the baddie to run up and just click and click attack until it is all over.

I prefer the interactive attack games like Mass Effect and Dragon Age etc. Much more fulfilling and they all looked like good story lines.

The Witcher looked like the story was going to be great and the voice acting wonderful, but the combat just made me want to tear my eyes out.

Oblivion and Morrowind again the attack system bored me silly like playing Project Entropia or something, but the story lines drove me nuts too. You would show up in a town, and you would not have even gone near the place and you would be told "New Objective... you just heard a rumour that...." Heard a rumour from WHERE for petes sake??? I just got there. Did the horse I just rode up to town on turn around and tell me it? Bah :)

Anyway that little monologue done, if anyone has recommendations to add you now know my tastes clearer than you could ever want to :)
