    GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

Mumsy dear, gets up around 9am, is a housewife, first thing she does is turn on the radio. Radio is on straight for about 12 hours daily I'd say, she listens to her own one at night in bed too. Doesn't bother me, I've no problem with it!

Where my problem lies is in the news. Its just after 6. Mumsy at this stage has heard at least 9 radio on the hour bulletins as well as those half-hourly one, and has also been listening to Drive Time since 16.30.

I turn on the TV at 6pm, for a half an hour to watch an episode of the simpsons. (Terrestrial TV, I have to pick my favourite between RTE 2 and Channel 4.) Just watch that, I turn it off straight away after and do something else. TV is hers at all other times of the day.

Here's the kicker, I hear the Angelus on the radio, get ready to turn on my show, and in she comes and turns on the news. WTF? She then proceeded to clean the sitting room with the remote in tow, not really paying ANY attention to the news.

"Can ya put on the Simpsons there please?" I ask.
"NO TARA!! I like to see a news!"

WTF? She could watch the one o'clock news, the half 4 news, the half 5 news on tv3, the 9 o'clock news, but she has to watch the 6.01!! Now she's left the room altogether! GRRRRRR! This is so agrivating!!

What ridiculously annoying things do your folks insist on doing that you know they secretly do to piss you off???

Exactly, the news is just a round up of the most depressing stories from the day, with a 20 sec snippet of something positive that'll be shot down the next day anyway, at least the Simpsons lightens the mood!

MY GOD this world would be perfect if I was in charge:rolleyes:!

People watch TV news? Sure that's out of date by the time it's aired. Online news ftw.

My Mom and Dad appear to consume news almost constantly too, and yet whenever I engage them in any sort of debate regarding current affairs they don't seem particularly interested. I guess they think I'm stupid. You should get a TV in your room, or get a laptop and start hoarding DVDs like I do, if I wanted to I could remain in my room for several weeks and I probably wouldn't run out of stuff to watch.

Shure doesn't she have to watch the 6.01, there might be new news they've been saving all day. It's what Irish mammies do. God forbid something would happen and she'd miss it.

Bet she doesn't have an opinion on any of it, unless it's joes opinion.

I find a lot of the more avid consumers of TV "news" are only interested in car crashes and suchlike
