    Hey guys,

In the market for a new 3d projector and have been getting different answers all over the place about the resolution of certain models.

    Take http://us.acer.com/acer/productv.do?kcond61e.c2att101=64638&link=oln15e.redirect&changedAlts=&CRC=729739954
(Just hit the technical specifications tab)

Projectors such as this with native resolutions of 1024x768 but Max of 1920x1080, Does that mean the projector can display 1080 or does it just downscale the input to 768?

    Thanks for any help.

AFAIK, it means that it can handle 1920x1080 but will scale it back to 1024x768. My display can handle 1125i but as it's native resolution is 1024x768 it will scale it back. The number of pixels will give you your answer.

What do you plan to use this for? If it's for standard computer applications then it'll be fine but if you are planning on hooking it up to a HD device (Sky HD, BluRay Player, PS3, etc) then be careful - it doesn't appear to be HDCP compliant which means it will have no HDMI connection and will not display a signal from a HD source.

First of all can you confirm what you mean when you say your in the market for a 3D Projector.

Be very careful with "3D projectors". Just about all current projectors launched in the past 3-4 months are branded as 3D Ready as they have the latest DLP chipset which is capable of "3D", 120hz processing.
What this means is by combining a 3D projector,a Laptop or PC with a compatiable graphics card "120hz output" and a pair of Active Shutter glasses your can watch 3D.

But at the moment this technology does not work with any 3D blu-ray players (panasonic/sony etc) or even with the new firmware update on the PS3. So the only 3D you can watch on a modern projector is using a PC/Laptop.

In the future some new 3D projectors will become available which are compatiable with all forms of 3D. Hopefully soon as 3D is wasted on a screen size of below 80".

indeedilly, the current system which works with models like the acer 5360 use the nvidia 3d system, which as stated above me, requires hooking up to a computer or laptop

(i still dont see 3d taking off!!! most joe bloggs out there havent even heard or seen bluray yet!)
