CA Lab Tutors

Just got an e-mail off Charlie saying I could apply to be a lab tutor next year, which is all well and good, but he said to reply with a copy of my CV.

I've got no work experience, and haven't a clue what to send.

Any lab tutors from last year care to give an idea of what they sent in?

I have none either, I just sent a fairly plain one in.
I'd say just make sure it has contact info (a phone number, he already has your email) and results from first year.

I doubt it's going to be hugely competitive or anything anyway, I doubt much of the people have relevant experience anyway.

Yeah, I did it a few years ago and my CV was pretty empty, I didn't have any real work experience at all back then.

I can't really remember anyone who actually replied to the email not getting the job.

since you got the e-mail you already have the job, they just need a CV for everyone.

I did it last year, and Charlie said at the tutor training day that it was just for HR to have on record.

Did I not hear that 25 people were asked? They usually pick just ~15 people and thats that. If 25 people were asked, either this years tutors weren't up to scratch, or they are planning on having a feckload of students.

Put down contact info/results/any(not just relevant) work experience. If you don't have any, I wouldn't worry about it :)

Good luck with it though, it's a hard job a lot of the time but totally worth it when you help someone understand something how System.out.println() works :)

Well, not everyone who gets offered the job wants it, so they usually ask for more people than they need. A lot of folks already have part-time jobs or just aren't bothered. I suppose it's possible that they're expecting numbers to go up this year too.

Huh, my year must have been different so, there was only 15 people emailed, from the outset

Well lots of the EC people this year didn't do Programming, and IIRC I heard one or two people saying they'd have to in future, if that's true it explains why they suddenly need more.
