so I had my checkup and clean (every 6 months) at the dentist yesterday and he commented on the nasty staining from the coffee...the cheek, he even suggested taking more milk in my coffee...how dare he! Doesn't he realise I'm trying to take less milk as to appreciate the finer flavours in my cup!!

What do ye coffee lovers do about teeth staining or do ye even care :D

occupational hazard. Same with the red wine habit. Brushing helps ;)

I find these weekly clean toothpastes you can get help. Colgate used to do a great one but I can't find it any more. Boots have a virtually identical one, though expect to pay 4-5€ for either brand. You use it once a week, it is a special paste that is slightly more abrasive than normal toothpaste, hence the caution to use it weekly. It says on the box it will last about a month, but I find you get far longer out of it. Another tip would be to wash your mouth out with water after that last sip. If it is really bad, use a straw when you are on your own (so that you don't look like a mentaller), most of the coffee does not get a chance to make contact with your visible teeth.

Was not aware there was a tea and coffee forum :)

well I suppose it's not too bad, nothing from a horror movie or anything but just when the dentist highlighted it!
I already rinse out the mouth with a cup of water after every coffee and I guess that helps to some degree.
I'll try one of those monthly cleaners you mentioned. yeah, coffee through a straw would look odd unless it's one of those faddy daddy frozen drinks that Gloria Jeans pawn off to kids.

Mine get so badly stained that I have to use floss to stop it building up. I'd still be happy to pay for a 6 monthly scale and polish to enjoy my daily brew.

I'm the same, more from red wine than coffee though. There's a daily toothpaste called blanx thats brilliant. cheapest in tesco, about a fiver but lasts for ages. get the one that says "intensive stain removal", it has a kind of bronzey stripe on the box.

exactly, I'd happily endure 20 minutes of discomfort every 6 months for a few moments of coffee happiness every day.
