    ...to quiet wiper blades??

I recently got a new windscreen so I treated the car to new wiper blades.

They can be fairly noisy at times and even squeaky.

Is there any way to stop this other than using a different brand?

I've the same problem with my micra, cleaning the windscreen and changing wipers didn't help. Could it be from marks/scores in the windscreen? Can get very annoying after a while!

They may be on too tight, causing it to push harder against the glass. See if you can loosen the spring at all. Failing that, pick up a pair of generic Aero blades. They generally help.

Windscreens do get pitted over time, especially if a car is 10 years old and still has the original windscreen. This can eat through wipers fairly quickly.

Im not sure whats causing the OP's problem though if he has replaced both!

A lot of the time its good to run a sponge along the blade of the wiper when washing the car, takes all the greasy crap off the edge of the blade.

Did you ever get one of those automatic car washes & include a wax? I did before, the wipers used perfect but for months after where squeaking. It just waxes the whole car including the glass. Really annoying.

There's not a single scratch or anything on the windscreen. I got a new one about 2 weeks ago.

They are on to manufacturer's specifications and they are the generic aero blades. Had another set of the exact same ones on before and they were very quiet.

I valet cars in my spare time so I know how to clean them. I always give the wipers a good clean on my own car when I wash it (once a week).

Never went near one of those. They destroy the glass and leave it greasy. Not something you want to be dragging across your windscreen every time you turn the wipers on ;)

I think the angle of the blades to the windscreen needs to be set correctly.

I got a new windscreen and it was squeaky for a while.

I had some window washer soapy stuff in the washer system and a good wash with that cleared most of that up and then over a day or two it went completely.

According to the manual, it just says that the driver's wiper has to be 38mm up from the cowl and the passenger's 25mm from it.

Always a good idea to use the windscreen washer before you leave the car wash and before using the wipers. A good 3 or 4 seconds of spray, helps if you have some type of detergent in there too, otherwise the wipers will hop across the glass.

Sorry that doesnt help the OP though.

Yes but if over time the blade has become the slightest bit loose where it attaches to the wiper arm, the blade with tend to sit at a slight angle to the screen sometimes causing the noise.

I put some silicone blades on mine a few months ago and they're almost totally silent. You can just about hear them when the car isn't moving. http://www.piaa.co.uk/wipers/wipers.asp

Which agents did you get them from? Are they available for our car in carbon fibre???

Yes. Look at the angle that they are when going in each direction. You will probably find they are at an angle more one way then the other ie they wipe / then \ so the wiper should be like this l when stationary rather a little bit \ or / they will scrape across glass.
so lift the wiper swivel the blade 90 degrees and use this as a lever to bend the attached wiper arm in the desired direction to get the desired angle \ or /

Also if you use refills rather then complete blades they will be noisey through worn joints

You obviously have an issue that needs to be looked at. You have a new screen & new blades already. Paying for a different type of blade is not going to be a long term solution.
You should check the angle & also see if there is any movement in the wiper stalks that might be causing a studder when in use
