Just heard Rick O'Shea on 2fm read out a text message in relation to 'keeping grudges' On this brides wedding day the best man took to the microphone & asked for the bride & groom to cut their cake - what's wrong about that I hear you say - except he called the bride by her husbands ex girlfriends name! Ouch worst nightmare - be careful who your fiance picks as his best man!

I was at a wedding once where the bride and groom had gotten together as a revenge thing when she was going out with his (ex!) best friend who cheated on her. Everyone knew this but obviously it wasn't spoken about much. The groom was making his speech and was saying how much he loved the bride etc etc, when a drunk family friend pipes up "Pity you only got her by stealing her from *Dave!".

There was this deathly silence as the drunk woman cackled away to herself and the groom went pale, awful few seconds I have to say.

Then about 2 hours later the ex showed up sh*tfaced, had to be escorted out by the guards after he tried to attack the groom.

Pretty much your ultimate nightmare wedding!

At a hotel I was working at the father of the groom welcomed "Bridget" to the family, pity that "Birdget" was the ex's name, bride spent the rest of the evening locked in the bridal suite sobbing while the father of the groom was at the bar saying how "Bridget" was so much nicer anyway

I'm confused. Father of the groom? Or did he forget his own daughter's name? Or was it a gay wedding?

I was at a wedding once where the best man made some extremely unsavoury reference to paedophilia owing to the age of the bride's young sibling.

My o/h was best man for his best friend two years ago. I didn't really know the couple getting married but when he was making his speech, he was really nervous and called the bride MY name... TWICE :o I was soooo embarrassed, just wanted the ground to open up:D

I was at a wedding where, although not intended to be a dig or anything, father of bride said in his speach....
'we welcome XXX to the family, he makes Bride happy so thats the main thing. Its not my choice, but we welcome him, he's a great dad, and the kids adore him and kids are a good judge of character so thats enough for me'

I honestly think he was trying to say that as a compliment, as in he is a great dad, but it came out ALL wrong.... :o
everyone just looked at each other in shock. Next came mentioning that even though bride wasn't married when she got pregnant the first time, or the second time, she has shown him he shouldn't have worried or been 'embarrased'!! as she is a great mother and at least she knows her responsibilities and goes out to work, which is something in this day and age!....

Then he went on to say he wished his own mother could be there - I mean come on, Granny died 20 years ago and she was about 80 then! talk about a downer....

then father of the groom came on. Now its no secret that the grooms mum doesn't think much of the bride, so she sat there with a mush on her. The grooms father wasn't much better than the brides, but it was glaringly obvious that mammy was pissed off as when daddy welcomed the bride to the family and everyone clapped, she crossed her arms and pursed her lips!

I'm thinking seriously good book material here - if anyone out there is an author and needs inspiration!

I'm sure there are plenty of stories to make a great book of wedding nightmares!

I was at a wedding once and the photographer was taking the shot of the bride and groom cutting the cake. He needed to move the table to get the background in and as he did....the cake came falling off and splattered all over the reception floor.

I felt worse for the photographer.

OMG, horrible. I often have to move the table but I ensure that a hotel member does it for me.... they are more capableof doing so without mishap. Anyone see the link on the photography forum? http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055964356
