Anyone Receive the Artists Exemption Scheme Tax Exemption?

    Hi guys,

I've applied for the Artists exemption scheme as I make some money online from music sales each month. As its all online, I'm wondering does it make it difficult to prove that I require it...

I've sent off all the docs including a copy of my CD containing my music and got a response saying that they need a copy of royalty payments from IMRO and copy of a CD crediting my music/me.

Has anyone else gone through this process, and if so was it easy to get?

    Cheers :)

I know a couple of people who have it - but it was a long struggle to get it.

I also know know one band who were successful in the 90s who were actually refused it.

Feck sake, thought it was supposed to encourage and help musicians in Ireland :(

I compose music in my spare time and wouldn't say I have had "sucess" really (had sold a few albums on my website, but thats about all).

Didn't know it was going to be really hard to get it :( Ah well, will keep trying!

Got it in the end anyway :) Got a letter and certificate from the tax office the other day to say I now have the artists exemption.

Took me about 1-2 months overall. Wasn't that long a process - applied the first time then they asked for a CD with my music on it that is being sold online/in stores and a copy of a contract/proof of payment for sales
