Tax relief on education limits

Assuming the courses in question are eligible for relief, I was wondering about the following detail.

    http://www.revenue.ie/en/tax/it/leaflets/it1.html#section16
    Tuition Fees

Tax relief at the standard rate of tax (20%) in the tax years 2009 and 2010 is available for certain tuition fees. The maximum limit on such qualifying fees for the academic years 2009/2010 and 2010/2011 is €5,000. For more information see Leaflet IT 31 - Tax Relief for Tuition Fees.

So I'm assuming this means that a course that's €6,000, one would only be able to claim on a maximum of €5,000 @ 20% and receive €1,000 back in tax.

But my question is, what if I were to take two courses, say €2,000 and €6,000 - could I claim €400 + €1000?

    Also
    http://www.revenue.ie/en/tax/it/leaflets/it31a.html
In relation to Foreign Language and Information Technology courses, tax relief is available at the standard rate of income tax where the net tuition fees for an approved course are more than €315. Relief is not available where the net tuition fees are less than €315. The maximum relief is €1,270 per course.

    So is the maximum for IT courses 1270 x 5 = 6350?

    Any input is appreciated.:)

You can only claim max €5000 @ 20%per tax year no matter how many college courses you pay for unfortunately

And regarding the it course ..it's 20% of course fee up to a maximum of €1270 per course

Excellent. Thank you for the clarification. It seems it would be better to spread out the fees, if possible, across two years then.

Also, it seems relief can only be claimed on one course per year.
Relief shall not be given in respect of a year of assessment in respect of more than one approved course.
