If the car's no longer insured by, but is still owned by you then I don't think you're insured to drive it at all. The prospective buyer may be covered under their own insurance though, although this is generally TP only.

Thanks for the reply. Would it then be possible to take out temp cover while I show the car to the client?

You could transfer your policy back to the old car for a while, but they might charge you an admin fee to do so.

I doubt if you can do this. Make it clear to any prospective buyer they must prove to you they have adequate cover to test drive the car.

Even if you temporarily transfer your own policy back to the old car, unless you have an open driving extension, I doubt they'll be covered to drive on your policy (open driving normally only applies to full licence holders aged 25 to 75).

....and most insurance certs will state that you are not covered for test trial and perhaps towing.
Some policies qualify this-FBD for instance- as speed testing and rally trials but more do not so it can be a grey area.

Thanks for all your help guys, esp Djimi. I got it sorted out, and have arranged temp cover for when I deliver the car to the client. :D

was this not your initial problem, showing the car to the client which obviously involves a test drive? rather than delivering the car to the client. You will still have to ensure that the client has a driving licence to drive such a vehicle and that your insurance covers him to drive it.

    Thanks very much anyway...
