This may seem stupid, but did you check the recycle bin. Another thing to do would be to search for one of the songs in the library, alot of the time Itune's makes a copy of all the files for some reason. Even though it should only be cd's you ripped on to the laptop that gets copied.
Hopefully you can get them back

Search for a program called "Recuva" on Google and download it. Then use it to search for deleted files. It might be best to narrow it to "Music" so it will only show you the .mp3 and .wma files etc. This should recover most of the files. It should name the files by itself, you can choose where to recover them to. I hope that solves your problem. If the explanation isn't clear enough just ask.

Did you search for files with iTunes in the name? It's just all MP3 or WMA files you should be searching for...I wiped the card on my phone before and recovered all the songs. It was about 200 songs.

    These things happen

    Take a look in:

    C:\Documents and Settings\your username\My Document\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Music

Mind you reimporting the files into a new library can be painful. I think you have to rename them all manually.

Alternatively, check the Apple Media Devices (http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=1176) forum - if the songs are still on the the apple device itself there may be a way to synch them back and somebody might know.

Maybe try restoring your computer to a date before you deleted the files, I Don't think it deleted it, It just created a new library ... there is some way to switch between your library's I forget how you do it though
