How often do you backup?

Hi,

More and more I see people leaving messages on playstation forums with a dead ps3 and no backup.

I have started taking 1 day out a month and doing the little things, cleaning up pc and network, checking fire alarms in the house etc. I have a ps3 for 3 months now (which I am loving) and I am going to ad backing up the ps3 to my list.

I think I will get to it this Saturday and I just wanted to know how often you backup?

If I backup to my usb drive can I transfer that backup to my pc in case anything happens to the usb drive?

I'm installing a 500gb hd in a week or so and wanted to know if I can choose not to backup all the media files I put on it? (as they will already be on my pc.)

Don't backup media. backup Game data utility. Nothing else is really important tbh.

I back up the whole thing every month and game saves and game data every week.

Can't say I've ever backed up a console, probably should, but laziness and stuff.

They should introduce something like Steam Cloud for sure.

No I tend to just save it onto a USB powered external. I have a 250GB HDD and two externals [one 250GB and the other 320GB]. I use the 250GB as my back-up and the 320GB for extra media.

With Steamworks coming to PS3, it may be possible but I can see them locking it down to just Valve games.

Maybe that could be a new feature for Playstation Plus?

I have a full back up and in most cases i will back up the save file individually after each day of play, but won't do a full back up again unless i have something that copy protection won't allow the individual save to be copied.

I have a 4 gb stick on my PS3 permantently. I move over old save games to it every now and then.

ive been meaning to do it recently. Bought a 1tb external hdd (€80 in easons )couple of months ago when my hdd got formatted and hadnt it backed up. Lost hundreds of hours of progress on offline and online games. I back up everything but it takes an age for it to do so....Think ill do it now over 100gb to save.:eek:
