i was wondering what your thoughts on this are i applied for a job recently through recruitment company the job spec was very vague but in the general area of my interest it took some time to squeeze out of them who the company was which kind of put me off i dont want to mention companies here but it would be an unusual type of job, also i was lead to beleive that a company van would be provided and it would be a field based roll primarily on the road, as it turns out recruitment company where just hyping it up and its simply 9-5 stuck in a workshop in dublin not my cup of tea, now i no beggers shouldnt be chosers but i simply have no interest in this position and know if i got it every evening i would be on job sites again looking for something better, i feel i will be wasting everyones time if i go through with it but on the other hand ive heard the stories about recruitment agencies so if i apply for a job through them again in the future i risk being blacklisted:confused:

Have you told the agency your concerns? Be polite, thank them for their time, but it's not for you. I'm presuming you currently have a job at the moment?

A company doesn't want to waste time interviewing someone who's not interested, any more than you would want to be interviewed for a job you've no interest in.

well i contacted the agency and explained my case and thanked the lad i was dealing with sincerely he seemed to be understanding but i know ill never hear back from them, but i know i would have wasted everyones time going through with the interview i couldnt imagine myself trying to sell myself when i know i had no interest. i just wish that agencies would give more detailed job spec and be a bit more willing to share who the company is

I doubt they're going to give up a potential future commission because of this. But it's always up to you to chase up an agency for a role. If you see them advertising another job that you are interested in, then take the initiative and ring them up about it. Never wait for them to contact you just because they have your CV on file.

They can be a pain to deal with, but it's a highly competitive market, and they want to cut down on other agencies ringing up to get more information.
