"Convert higher bit rate songs to 128 Kbps AAC" option when syncing messed up tunes

When syncing my iphone recently I noticed that my music library was almost full. I ticked the option of "Convert higher bit rate songs to 128 Kbps AAC" and the music library shrunk accordingly.

Now I can't play any music on my iphone that I downloaded in the last year or so - the albums/songs are all still there but they just won't play.

    Anyone any ideas?

untick the syncing of music in itunes to your iphone. Synch phone so all music is removed. Tick the synching of music option again. Synch back music. Test music. Drink celebratory coffee as you listen to fave tunes!
