Netbook Problem

OK guys, I've literally been up all night trying this so hopefully somebody can help me.

I'm trying to install Ubuntu Linux 10.6 on a EEE PC netbook using a USB flash drive. My problem isn't installing Ubuntu, but rather, when I install it, it won't boot from the SSD.

I've gone into the BIOS and selected the hard drive to boot first, but I then get the following error message-

"Reboot and Select proper Boot device
or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key"

AFAIK there's two solid state drives in the netbook, one 8GB and one 4GB.

    Thanks.

    Yah, that'll do it! :P

In case anyone searches for this: one thing I remember from installing Ubuntu on my EEE PC 1000 was: you don't modify the BIOS to get it to boot from USB. Just leave the boot order as standard with the two HDDs in the default order, and never change it again. To boot from USB, you hit Escape at boot up to get a boot menu instead, then select the USB device.

I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Your days are your sonnets.
