I've been saying I was going to do it for about two years and I've finally done it.
all it took was for my mates to ask me to play bass in their (all ready established/UK tour booked) band.
They needed a bassist, I was a guitarist.
The glove fit, now all I needed was a bass.

For about three weeks I had a lend of my mate's old SX P-bass replica. Horrid yoke so it was but it secured my spot as bass player in the band.
I then realised I had about a week and a half to go before we leave for Glasgow for my first show with the band, then onto New Castle and London in the following days... Shíte say I, I need a bass and fast.

To adverts I went with a budget of about €350-€400 and all I was seeing was worthwhile basses for €500.
Then next of all, I click on a link to a lovely looking Mexican Jazz that was going for €450 with a free hardcase, upgraded bridge and strap locks.

I ended up taking it home for €370 on Monday.

I had practice yesterday and got to hear her through a decent amp for the first time. Sounded lovely, even with the dull old strings* on her. Feels great to play.
Really easy on the fingers with a nice slim neck.
Action could do with being lowered slight but that might just be the guitarist in me not being use to playing bass.

I'm delighted to say the least.
Two years is all it took me... Two bloody year to buy a bass! :)

I'll get better pictures when I can find my camera but he's a taster from my phone for now.

*I've boiled them to get the dirt out for the rest of the week and I'll be sticking a new set on before I set of for the UK, next week.
    Lovely!

Welcome to the "low end". :) Glad you finally got a bass you are happy with.

A nice one too by the looks of it.

    Best of luck with it.

You do know that you have to use the €30 you have left from your budget to buy your backup bass, right?

I hope you like Spongebob or Hannah Montana :)

    Cheers every one!
I spent the majority of last night cleaning it so now it's lovely and shiny.
New strings bought today but I'm going to hold out putting them on 'till I get to Scotland... Or the day before. I hate changing strings!!

    Yeah that's me. :)

Next thing on the list now is a bass amp.

There is one of those roadworn ones in xmusic I think it's around €1,600. It's a beautiful bass to play. Gassing for 1 myself at the moment!
