Are there any sites in Ireland that use their paintball sites also a airsoft sites? Been to a paintball site ages ago in Wicklow. Dont know which one but was thinking that it would be an awesome airsoft site! :) Sorry if this is a dumb/slow question! :p

Usually paintball sites don't work very well as airsoft sites. As the distance between cover is off so you'd just get bogged down and no one would really be able to do anything. Basically it would lead to very boring games.
Or it would require everyone to be really, really sneaky...(Might sound like fun, but it wouldn't be a successful airsoft site IMHO).

There are a couple of places down in Cork.

My biggest problem with it is your gear gets wrecked from all the unexploded paintballs on the ground =)

I think that tacops.ie has managed to get permission to use part of Skirmish paintball (roundwood, wicklow) on an occasional basis.

As for paintball sites not working well? Nonsense! It's all about how you use your cover. Might not be the greatest of games, but it would work. On that note, one of the best 'skirmish' weekender events I've ever attended was Fireball Squadron's "Op. Fireball" held at their venue attached to the NPF in Birmingham (National Paintball Fields). For one weekend a year, the airsofters get the run of both the smaller airsoft site (which is in itself awesome), and the entire NPF grounds. You want a village to fight through? Not a problem. Trench system's the size of a football pitch? not a problem? Dense brush? etc. Yes you've got paintball goo to deal with, but it's really not so bad.

Hellfire Airsoft in Bray use a Paintball site and it works well apart form the pain on everything of you play after a paintball team have played there it tend to get on ya gear and make some areas slippery but baring that the site is fun and good bunch of guys play there regularly.

The only problem with Hellfire really is that the areas are a bit small and too open, there's no room for flanking as you can be seen from pretty much anywhere is each of the ares.

Sounds like outdoor cqb from what people are saying. Could be a different experience as some people dont like outdoors and some dont like cqb. Might be a mixture of both and anything thats different is a bonus! :) Just thought that paintball sites generally have alot of cool structures/buildings that might be cool in airsofting. Thanks for all the good feedback!

Thought I'd just quote that again....

And as far as I know hellfire ran a test game before opening the site to airsoft and they found the cover was too far part. So they changed it to make the site more airsoft friendly.

Just to confirm what Dread-Lock said. Thankfully the site manager wanted airsoft to succeed and listened to what we had to say regarding cover. Paintball sites can work as long as the site managers listen to the needs of airsoft re cover and space.
