Hi, I recently purchased a HD Sky box from adverts and am trying to connect it instead of the origional basic box. All working but I have only one signal feed to box. can i split this at rear of box and create two feeds at this point. I believe the two feeds are required to record a different channel to the one been watched. All help appreciated Bifforod.:confused:

I've heard of people doing this and it has been reported that it works depending on what channel you are watching and what channel you want to record. Depends on polarisation etc.

It's not the ideal thing to do and I've also heard of it causing problems with receiver freezing etc. I wouldn't be happy to set it up that way for anyone or happy if someone else set it up that way for me.

Is there any way you can get another cable to it

No you need a 2nd feed full stop to the box.

Snaps is right, you need one of these http://satellite.ie/acatalog/LNB_Quad__for_Sky_Minidish.html#aQUAD just run second feed from it to input 2 in the box and Bobs your uncle.

Thanks Zerks. Excuse my ignorance but where does the Quad you have highlighted attach in the first instance.

On the end of the arm on the satellite dish where the cable comes from!

you may have to get a quad lnb. to allow for the second connection.

You need a second cable from the LNB to have all Sky+ feature fully functional. However, you can switch the HD box in to 'Single Feed' mode and have Sky+ with some limitations. You will still have the benefit of HD as it only requires one feed. If you switch to single feed mode you will only be able to record on the channel you are watching. Live pause & rewind will work too.

Obviously two feeds are best but if you want you can switch to single feed until you get the second one installed.

    Switching to a Single Feed.

Thanks Crosstownk, I have gotten that far , but it does limit the capabilities of the HD box. I'll have to have a go at the suggestions offered.
