system is tank, pump, pressure reducing valve, exp vessel, unvented pressurised cylinder.

Get a pro in, you'll need to replace expansion vessel. Sounds like the diaphragm inside it has been compromised.

and it will need to be done soon. Aside from the heating aspect these things become top heavy and considering most lads do not fit support brackets it can put pressure on the fittings...

Thanks for the replies lads, shouldve mentioned this before, Im told it was already replaced for the same reason a few months ago.
What if I was to inflate it via the valve on top it fully to force the water out?
Another thing ive noticed is usually an exp vessel will be above the cylinder a bit, this ones level, am thinking gravity might be letting water in bit by bit or is that nonsense.

If you don't know the basics of a unvented installation then you shouldn't be working on it, if that cylinder doesn't meet manufactures/G3 requirements and it floods then you would be in the doo doo as the last competent plumber on site, To answer your question they are ment to be mostly full of water but not with water at the valve, if the expansion vessel has gone you would know very quickly as there would be other complaints.

Thers air in it alright, just feels very heavy with water. Maybe its fine. I'll suggest putting something under it to support the weight. Thanks to all who replied.
