I bought a G4 for one of my children three years ago. For the last 3-4 weeks the screen is constantly dim no matter what settings are used. Is this a common problem?

    A Powerbook G4?

Any difference when connected to power versus running on battery?

It's old, so maybe the inverter board is gone, or the backlight.

Shot in the dark, but try resetting the PRAM and the PMU:

Also, do you have the install discs that came with the machine?
