    Folks

Woke up this morning with quite a painful knee, one spot right on the outside of the knee, I have unhelpfully self diagnosed an IT band problem. Pain was worse when I initiated movement in the joint
Have no history of knee problems although this pain may have happened once last year but we;ve had a baby since so I can't remember what life was like before she arrived;)
Didn't run yesterday but did 5miles on Monday and had a very tight achilles which I was stretching yesterday.
Am signed up to run adidas 5 mile on Saturday. Pain has lessened considerably through the day. As a precaution does anyone know of a good physio in Kilkenny as I'm there tomorrow and may pay a visit if no big improvement.

There are 5 Private Physiotherapy Clinics open in Kilkenny city. Details for any of these can be found on the Chartered Physiotherapist in Private Practice website @ www.cppp.ie

Carlow is blessed for physios, I would recommend Mick Kehoe, decent runner himself as well. Not far off the motorway coming from Kilkenny

for an alternative you could try Elaine @Shanti School of Yoga behind Spinghill Clinic on Waterford road. She does chinese massage/physio treatment called tui na and she is damn good at it. Also, she is a runner herself.

Best physio around is probably Theresa Mcginn in Kilkenny Physiotherapy clinic, check out her website . She's been treating elite athletes in Kilkenny since early 1990's - I've sent so many people to her and they always sing her praises.

Nadya Borisova in the little privat practice in St Kieran's is really good.

Since this is Kilkenny area related, anyone have any experience with Callan Sports Injury Clinic? Its just in Green St Callan beside the pharmacy.

I have used both Theresa and the guys in Cootes lane for minor issues - found both to be very good to be honest, but for some reason I cant quiet put my finger on, I would go back to Cootes lanes over the other....

Robbie Lodge in stoneyford or Ray Challoner in Thomastown both are very good.

Star Geoghegan apparently had some of Jamaica's best track stars in Carlow for treatment last weekend.
