Greatest football point ever scored

What was the greatest point ever scored in football?

I'd have to go for Michael Donnellan's against Kildare in '98 where he beat 2 players to the ball in the middle of the field, raced clear and scored.

Here's 50 of the best from youtube:

Yeah, I'd go with this too.

Derek Duggan in the drawn connacht final in 1991. Pointed a free off the ground from 60 yeads to level the game, and Roscommon went on to win the replay. He was only 19 at the time.

Mac Donalds winner against the Dubs 2006... what a ****ing player

Maurice Fitzgeralds point v Dublin was out of this world, considering the difficulty, the pressure and that Tommy Carr was roaring in his ear. If I scored a point like that, I'd have stopped my celebration run about last Tuesday! He just jogged back to his position! He also scored a super point against Mayo in the 97 final. No harm to Donnellan (who didn't even score the point in the end) but I could never see the fuss about this. I think that it won the top 20 GAA moments of all time on RTE (beating Maurice Fitz into 2nd place)and that didn't do it any favours. According to RTE, the Offaly fans invading the pitch was one of the top 20 moments!

Also, and this is me being biased, but Paul Finlay scored a beauty from the sideline against Fermanagh on the Ulster Semi Final

fitzgerald had also received a couple of hefty jostles from vinnie murphy a few mins before who made it his business to run the length of the pitch to let him who was in town.
    classic stuff

Fitzgerald was a magic player. His performance against Mayo was a joy to behold.

What about the greatest point never scored like Ray Cosgraves that should have been against armagh in the last minute hittting the post :mad:

Graham Geraghty's point from the endline against Dublin was an unbelievable point. It's from about 1:45 in this vid.

Joe Sheridan's point against Westmeath in the qualifiers last year was great but unfortunately there were no cameras there.
And of course, Maurice Fitz's was a class apart.

Colin Corkery scored a cracker near the end of an AI Club final, against Crossmolina I think. Can't find it on youtube. Won the AI for them.

Mad Men's Don Draper : What you call love was invented by guys like me, to sell nylons.

John Doyle v Limerick in the qualifiers of 2008 in the Gaelic Grounds in Limerick was just as good as Maurice Fitzgeralds. Never got the recognition it deserved.

Sean Og De Paor's for Galway in the final against Kildare in 1998. Great movement from one end of the field to another especially by Donnellan.

Kevin McMenamon's sideline kick against Tyrone this year with virtually the last kick of the game reminds me so much of Maurice Fitz's special.

Broke my heart that day in Thurles but was great to see what is the best point I've ever seen.

Donnellan was at his best on that day ...

Would have to say Maurice Fitz but this one came close!

Have a look at this score he got against Galway seen as there is so much talk over the last few weeks about shooting with the outside of the boot...he was the master of the skill!! (Watch the replay from behind the goal)

That was an incredible score, i remember watching it from down the other end of the ground. It started off about 10 yards wide to the right, but dropped right over the black spot...he was running back out the field the second it left his boot because he knew he had nailed the shot, a truly brilliant point to have been there to see.

I always thought his other point in the same Dublin game was somewhat forgotton about because of his point at the end, but there were similarities with Fitzgerald in 2001 in that one too.

    +1..

For pure skill, coolness underpressure and the totally unassuming self belief that that he had taking that kick and knowing before us all that it was going over.. even the ball that day didnt know it was going over before Maurice did.. Absolutely Class act and untouchable score... Legendary Stuff!!

Because of the hug pressure of the kick and even as a Dub myself I have to say Mcdonald's late point for Mayo against Dublin in the semis. Rounded up one of the games of the decade.
