If your flight is into Milan Malpensa, there is a bus to "Stazione Centrale" one of the main railway stations. There are hotels near this station.
One of them is "Amadeus Hotel", Via Vitrruvio 48, 20124 Milano.

It is located near the Metro (underground) and a Tram service.

I do not know which airport you are flying into.
Milan Linata has a bus service, I do not know the route.
Some people fly into Bergamo to visit Milan. I do not know of the transport services there

we stayed at the fieramilano not central but a nice hotel and good breakfast included in price. tram outside the door brings you to the main city center in minutes or to the san siro with a change, around the corner is the domodossola train station which will bring you to lake como in under an hour for a few euros return

about 10 mins walk from the hotel is the main nightlife area of milan; Arco della Pace

as always shop around on the various sites for the best hotel deal, e.g. otel.com, booking.com, hotel.com, hotelclub.com etc

OP if you want to go and see Da Vinci's Last Supper in Milan you need to get on their website and book soon as it has a several week waiting list. They only accept reservations so you can't buy a ticket when you are in Milan.

We got a deal in the Hilton Milan when we went last year - it's 2 mins from Stazione Centrale & we flew with Ryanair into Linate which is a 15 min taxi ride from the city centre for about €15. The bus is about €10 (for 2) each way & takes a lot longer. Milan is very easy to get around using the metro but we found it pretty expensive & we won't be back. Much preferred Lisbon TBH - prettier, cheaper and just gorgeous

    Anecdote:
Last week in Milan's Metro I bought a ticket, put my wallet into
the trousers. After getting on the train a fellow stopped, blocking
my way to a seat. I felt a touch on my leg. It was that guy's accomplice reaching for the wallet. I saved my wallet. They ran out, seconds later the doors closed.

    This happens in many cities.
