Any Good Running Around Ballybunnion ?

Will be staying in Ballybunnion for my holliers during the first week in August and am wondering if there are any nice runs around there that I should look out for. I tried to search through MapMyRun, but the new site drives me insane. Anything offroad is best but good safe roads, with good big hills comes a close second.

    Any ideas?

I went to school there but didn't do any running back last millennium :) This is the link to the half-marathon course this year, the first half ('til mile 7) would be on very quite roads but from there on you're on the main tourist drag into the town so it would be fairly busy.

Like Opus, I started running post leaving North Kerry, so scraping the barrel of the memory. I'm not sure about off road, but there are plenty of reasonably quiet country roads.

The area is generally quite flat, but there is one serious hill if you are feeling a bit mad! It's called Cnoc an Oir. If you can cope with mapmyrun again, just on the outskirts of Ballybunion, you will see a townland called Afona - here the main street out of town splits between the R553 main road to Listowel and a country back road (might be a bit busy though, haven't travelled it in years). Running along there for about 5km will take you to the foot of Cnoc an Oir. Look for townlands like Lyre, Killomeerhoe. When you are actually there you can't miss the hill, it's visible for miles. You could then come back part of the half marathon route.

Try searching for Listowel runs rather than Ballyb. It's only 8 miles away, so it should give you some ideas that you can adapt.
