Train from Dublin to Munster Final Replay

    Does anybody know if there are being any special trains being run on Saturday for the Munster Hurling Final replay in Thurles from Dublin?

    Looked on the Irish Rail website and link isnt working and when I tried the online booking it said ticket would cost €86!!! If anyone has any detaisl can they let me know, thanks a lot!

    Would you not quicker driving or do you wish to have a few pints down there? The M8 is the job now and will have you in Thurles in just over 90 minutes.

    Cheapest option I can see online is:

    The 14:00 train Heuston - Thurles for €10
    Leaves you with just over 3 and half hours to kill in Thurles.
    All later trains are €29

    The only train that you can get back after is the 21:48 which also costs €10.

    Ah ha. I see what you did wrong here. You selected the tick boxes under P (which is for premium) which comes to €86. Make sure you select the tickboxes under the S column (standard) to get the regular web discounted fares.

    Standard online return fare for €20 which is not too bad if you are able to kill time in Thurles. What could you do I wonder.....:rolleyes:

    A lot of off peak trains are only €10 one way at the moment, to try and get people in

    You'ld miss Abbeyleix on the way back from Thurles wouldn't you. 90 minutes down and 2 hours back on a Sunday night. Mighty stuff

    Only problem now is youd better go to the toilet before you start any cork-dublin trip. No stopping at all but two tolls :(

    Thanks for the replies...planning on going to Ulster final on Sunday and dont want to drive both days! I'll look into train options again!
