    quick trivia question i want to confirm with the Rossie faithful.

    sligo is the yeats county, kerry is the kingdom.
    what is Roscommons nickname?
    i looked it up and i get nout only the Rossies.
    anyone know if there is a nickname?

    The most common name is 'The Rossies' but often mentioned as 'The Sheep Stealers' as well.

    never heard us being called the sheep stealers till i moved to dublin and met some galway people - have heard the sheep shaggers been used since too. seems mostly a gaa thing and since i never took part in that i missed the name thing growing up there. mucksavages is a name i like to use - but covers most of the country side.

    Roscommon has been known as the sheep stealers country for years due to the fact that back in the day, anyone convicted of stealing sheep was sent to the old gaol in town
