    Hi,

Had a visit from the insurance guy today about a tip on the roundabout a month or so ago.

I was coming from the tunnel in the lefthand most lane heading for dublin exit and as I was on the roundabout a car that had been stopped at the lights in the right lane (the lights just changed as i approached so i passed them out) pulled onto the roundabout and tried to take the first exit and drove into my right rear. It was strange as the passanger in the car that hit me (he was the drivers boyfriend) came out looking for money (intimidating really). I refused and they rang the guards. AGS arrived after an hour or so and took all the details and told me I should notify my insurance. I followed all instructions and received a phone call from the insurance company saying they wanted to view my car etc. so i obliged.
The funny thing was when the assesor came out he told me that the car that hit me was not properly insured (the reg number didnt match that on the certificate) and the girl had been on a provisionial license and was unaccompanied so aswell as the insurance company probably refusing to cover her in the case i claimed (i didnt, she barely dented my block but broke her own headlight, dented bonnet, wing and bumper) and she received points for being unaccompanied:pac:.

I was just wondering had I wanted to claim was there any possibility of getting money back and also why had she insisted on calling the guards when she knew by the letter of the law she was driving illegaly?? Like i said I was happy to drive on, we were both young drivers so a claim was gonna cripple us for a few years!!! Even if the damage for her was €1500ish she would have saved that money over two years by not claiming. Presuming the insurance company would go down the usual split 50/50 and take both their no claims bonus with € signs in their eyes!!!!

    drove into my right rear.

There is your answer. She hit the back of you, her fault 100%. Your insurance company should not pay out a penny sorry a cent... You could claim any damage against her

Stange the insurance company came to the scene for such a minor impact. Are the other car claiming for injury?

You state that the other driver was unaccompanied and you also say that her boyfriend exited her car and looked for money from you. ??????

Unaccompanied by a FULL LICENCE HOLDER. Not literally unaccompanied.

Unaccompanied in this sense means by a fully qualified driver, which i'm guessing her jackass bf wasn't....

ya, sorry for not being clear, she wasn't accompanied by a licensed driver and I actually didn't have to go back to the scene. the assesor had pictures of the roundabout, he told me he keeps them on file because he has at least one accident a week from there!!

The assesor told me in the general irish way that I was completely off the hook but he just had to talk to her first but he was having diffuculty contacting her, she kept cancelling every time he went to meet her!!!
