Trip computer upgrade on Mondeo?

    Hi all,
I have a 05 facelifted Mondeo. The trip computer shows the average fuel consumption but not the momentary, which I miss greatly and am looking for a way to add it. The manual says "it depends on the market" whether the option is available so it's definitely capable of doing it.
Can the software in the trip comp be upgraded to add this functionality? If so, how do I go about it? Anyone around Dublin doing this?
    Any input welcome. Cheers :)

I would also be interested in this option.

My 04 2.0l Petrol Ghia does it, but I only discovered it the other day. I think I switched between average and momentary pressing the button on the stalk at the same time as the button on the cluster for switching between kph/mph. I presume the cluster is the same across all Mondeos of similar age?

Cheers for the link. Hmmm that discussion seems to be aimed at installing the trip into cars that don't have it. Still, changing the instrument cluster may be the way to go. I can't believe it cannot be reprogrammed though.

Just tried, mine doesn't change, just works as usual. Stupid question but: are you sure you didn't just reset the average counter? After reset it gives the impression of the momentary for a while.

Not sure, I guess it could be!?!, I haven’t used the car since I did that day as my wife has been away with it. It did seem to be calculating on the fly but it was during that drive when I last had it that I was fiddling. Car is back this evening so I will take a look and report back.

If its any help, in the case of volkswagens, all features are in the computer display software but not all are enabled due to regional differences etc. VW diagnostic software can be used to enable these features so maybe the same exists in the case of Ford vehicles.

Aha! There's better info here. Looks like it's possible after all. :D
