Night away for the lads, with golf...

Can anyone recommend a nice hotel and golf course for a guys night away in October. Most of us are based in Dublin, so somewhere no further than an hours drive would be preferable. We had a great time in Knightsbrook last year, and it was ideal, but we'd like to try somewhere different for a change this year.
We probably cannot stretch to the K-Club or Carton House, but it would be nice!

A group of lads from my club went to Bunclody and all gave it rave reviews. Think it was €130.00 for B&B, evening meal plus golf. I might be wrong on the cost.

Killeen Castle is in Dunshaughlin. Haven't played it but a mate has played a good few times and he raves about it.

Apparently great facilities food and drink-wise there too, and a hotel on-site.

I'm sure they'll do you a deal if they've any sense in this climate.

I don't think the hotel is open in Killeen Castle yet... according to their web site anyway the hotel will open in time for the Solheim Cup next year

Op, myself my godfather and dad do an annual golf and stay over trip as an xmas present to each other, last year we were at Knightsbrook and it was a lovely little course and the meal and hotel were lovely too.

This year we ended up playing woodenbridge in Avoca, Wicklow (http://www.woodenbridge.ie/). Absolutely cracking course, beautiful setting, nice hotel with pub/restaurant attached. Had a great day/night and would thoroughly reccomend this course, I will definitely be heading back there this year! BTW on the way down stop off at Jack Whites for the all day breakfast, cant beat a dinner sized breakfast for 8 or 10 euro!

Tulfarris last March was €75p.p. Golf BB and Dinner

Templepatrick (nr. Belfast) 1 1/2 hrs from Swords is around £55 each B+B , golf for resident is £25 and dinner in clubhouse or bar is around £15 which all told is about €120 p.p. and the drink is cheap ;3 a pint !!!!

You can stay & play at the Racket Hall hotel for 80e. Includes 1 night B&B, 1 dinner and 1 round of golf at Roscrea golf course for € 80pp. The course is next door to the hotel. Lovely course with lots of mature tree lined fairways.

edit: Its 80/90 mins from Dublin.

Re the offer from the Heritage - there is an open four person team, any combination 13th August €160 per team which would tie in well with offer from hotel
