Bored of Edge?

Firstly let me clarify, I always have been a fan, in fact he is probably one of my favorite wrestlers ever@~:)


However since his return, I can't get into him. He just seems so stale really. His promo's while delivered reasonably well don't do much for me. He may have an odd gem but I feel I have heard it all before.

His ring work isn't anything to get that excited about either, thats obviously due to the 234 injuries his body has had over the years, but its scary watching him now when you compare him to how he was before 2006/2007, where he was awesome.

His matches with everyone since his return have been flat, you can't really blame the calibre of his opponents, guys like Jericho and Orton are not exactly bad workers.

The running hug as a finisher looks even lamer and weaker these days.


I dunno I can't get excited about watching him anymore, the ultimate opportunist gimmick which is so stale, the lifeless promos, and his underwhelming matches.

I think a proper face turn and a long stint or Smackdown would have been the better options for him. I agree his gimmick is gone stale and it's hard to care about him anymore.

Never got the appeal of the guy in the first place...

I'm not bored with him as I think I only really returned to watching Raw regularly around Bret's return so he's still the man to me. I did however feel disappointed that they killed his babyface stint which I thought they should have stuck with longer. He could be the top guy on SD now if they had left him there.

i've been bored of this dude for about a year now. I was a massive fan of his 2005 push but he's been pushed front and centre for 5 years now; I feel I've seen all of what his current character has to offer. His dismal face turn didn't do anything and I don't see any chemistry between himself and Orton.

Don't get me wrong, Edge is one of the best talents in wrestling today, and is one of the very few bona fide main-eventers, but he hasn't wrestled, talked or done anything that interested me in about a year. So not a long, long time, but for a while now.

He needs a change of pace - to wrestle different talents. Or maybe a tag stint? Or jeez, break out the awesomeness with tagging with Christian, and then a feud

Edge was easily the top heel in the WWE from 2005-2007 but Jericho, Punk and Orton have totally knocked him down that pecking order, his 2010 return has been dreadful to say the least, and he's certainly in need of some sort of change

Give the man time to get back his heel heat. He was a Morrison level babyface which is painfully bland. He was a phenomenal heel in 2006 but he won't get such a push again.

His feud with Orton sucks,but I'd say Orton playing a tweener isnt really helping things either.They should have stuck at it with him as a face for a while longer.

He never should have started that SPEAR,SPEAR,SPEAR crap though!

Totally agreed. Orton isn't pulling his weight -- sure he still acts like a heel, he just 'accepts' the fans' cheers. The methodical, only-spaz-out-for-5-seconds buzz is fine as a heel, but you gotta work the crowd into a frenzy if you're gonna work as a face.

Part of me (wants to) believe that the 'SPEAR, SPEAR, SPEAR' crap was just WWE Creative writing it and telling him to use it. It's useless though. That and being the 'ultimate opportunist' has really, really run it's course.

Sending both Edge and Jericho to Raw was a bad move imo one of them should have stayed on SD preferably Edge to feud with Christian (it was teased at before he left SD)

A proper Edge vs Christian fued = Ratings imho, and could actually elavate Christian to the next level. God i hate WWE sometimes:mad::pac:

It's not the same, is it?? Before it was fun to plug it but now, it feels forced that I have to do at least 1 a day/week

Edge has visibly lost a step since his return, though being stuck with Orton doesn't help. Orton just doesn't work a style that's conducive to being a face. It just leads to his matches being slow and boring as they lack excitement (bar his comeback) and that's hurt Edge. He's ran out of things to do and people to face as a heel and they should of ran with him as a face.

It's hard to miss. I've lurked here a lot for the last 4 or 5 months.

Oh and the spear thing.. Jesus. Myself and a mate were discussing this. He is a great heel and for someone who has lost a fair bit of his physical prowess; be it because of age or injuries or whatever, but he would be really suited to a feud with Christian right now... That or get back to the gym. Shallow, I know... I've felt his physical ability lacking recently and unfortunately the guys at the top have to have some presence, which I feel he has lost.

His ring abilities have definitely been hampered by his injuries. He's certainly lost the quickness he once had in the ring, i also think he's definitely a superstar which the PG era has affected his gimmick, as the Rated R Superstar isnt quite the same now is it?

Edge's Problem?

The same problem all the great Heels WWE have at the moment. There are too many of them.

If your not feuding with Cena, Taker or Mysterio nobody cares. He has fueded enough with cena, Taker the same plus always injured, Rey is normally injured too.

They should of allowed fans to cheer the ultimate oppertunist Edge instead of watering him down with spear, spear, spear and such nonsense.

Its more important than ever that WWE find a way to get the likes of Kofi over.

i think the wwe cut his feud with jericho too short there was more roon for 2 more ppv matches from the feud and as said before he would be best on smackdown maybe keep align with vickie and ziggler and add the dustmates or whatever they are called to his stable

I think that's how heels should kiss. You getting disgusted by it only adds to the heat, and increases the legitimacy of the couple. Does anyone believe Teddy DiBiase and Maryse as an item? No, they're just paired together. There's absolutely no chemistry. Maybe that's a point but if you want them to get over as any kind of item, they should be wearin' the face off each other and disgusting the crowd.

Maybe it's a "business relationship"......of which no "business relationship" gimmick has ever worked, has it? No hand holding, no affection, no nasty wears, no heat.

Edge is , and will always be one of the best wrestlers of the WWE. Thanks to him we had so much fun last year, but since he's came back, he 's been sucking at what he used to be good at : being the ultimate opportunist !!

Why don't they write out a better storyline for him? He is one of the key characters of the business and they don't use him to his full potential , edge should be more than just what he is now !

he should take down Kofi in the back , just like he did at the eliminatio,n chamber!

I think that since Edge moved to raw, he's not beeen as good, maybe because there are a lot more big names like Cena, HHH, Orton, Jericho and sheamus etc are there and Edge seems a bit lost on raw. he doesn't stand out really anymore like he did on Smackdown. They should have left him on Smackdown. They need another big heel like EDge on it.

I remember reading in Edge's biography (so it must be true) that he prefers playing the face. The trouble is that Edge as a face becomes so annoying you end up hating him. Being a do-gooder and smiling like an idiot seem to be rules #1 & #2 in the WWE handbook for faces, Evan Bourne is a prime example of it. He should be billed from "Dweeb City", because he is Mayor of it.

Edge (like Randy Orton) is a natural born heel and all his best work has been done as a heel. If WWE needs a top tier face they should consider turning Jericho, he'll be equally over as a good guy as he is as a baddie.

I never got him (Voted haven't liked him for a long time, serves me right for not reading the full thing before voting) but anyway, I think he is one of those very over-rated wrestlers.

This is my opinion only obviously and I am sure a lot of you will disagree. But he has always had someone to fall back on and make him look better, at the start he had Christian and the 2 of them had their very funny moments (Kazoo's and streamers rule) but anyway Edge had him help him through, then the 2 split up and I don't remember much Edge did, but basically next time he was major (In my eyes) he was with Lita, who I think got him an awful lot of heat even though she largely went unnoticed for it. then they broke and he had Vickie to carry him through who again got him an awful lot of heat.

Don't get me wrong he was always fairly solid in the ring but never really outstanding, I just think he has had a lot of good people around him, and then of course he isn't the worst himself.

Not bored of Edge. He's just in a backseat position with Orton at the moment. For main eventers anyway. Double countout at Over the Limit and focus on their fued taking a backseat to Money in the Bank promotion.
