    Hi all boarders!

Just a quick feeler to see what the interest would be in this! Having been a musician playing around in mainly pop rock based/punk bands for many years, I feel now may be the time to push myself into my real area.

I'd like to put together a band/collective/project of open minded musicians, to create some sort of heavy soundscapes and a little something different. Metalish, but not necessarily always!

To name a few bands id throw in Isis, Electric Wizard, Warhorse, Sleep, Boris, Tool, the list goes on and on.

I'm aiming for heavy, but not necessarily fast. Progressive, but not necessarily hard to digest. Something with lots of dynamics, variations in tempo, and just thought provoking, sometimes ambient, sometimes ripping your head off!

If this sounds like your bag PM me.

I'm a bassist (but experienced on a few more instruments) and ideally id like to throw in a vocalists, drummer, guitarist (maybe 2, maybe 3) keyboards, electronics of any kind maybe, a percussionist and anything else weird and wonderful. ie. lets not just limit ourselves to a structure!

Not aiming for anything commercial in anyway, so don't be fooled!! Hoping to get together, jam out some good music, and maybe even throw down some amateur recordings!

Aiming for the slightly older more mature age group. say 23+, not to discriminate, but want to keep it fun, but still focued!

    Thanks for your time

Sorry Papa Smut, no offense intended! As a guy closer to 30 than 20 I'm with you! I just didn't want to be wasting any younger guys times! They have too much free time and energy, us older turkeys have less free time, but want to be focused when were rocking it out!

    No offense meant!

And yes, something kinda along those lines, very good call! You know me better than I do! :D

Hey where abouts are you based? Wouldn't mind meeting up for a jam or something. I'm based in Celbridge /Guitarist /30 . Haven't played heavy stuff in a while more bluesy stuff but wouldn't mind a go at it again

    Hey all!

Thanks for the enthusiasm, this is gonna be great!

I just had a guitarist mentioned above and a drummer PM me, so were starting to gather up the troops very well indeed!

The plan will be to keep the thread going for a couple of weeks, and then see who we have on board, from there we can book a place, and jam it out! Lets keep it free and easy!

Keep your eyes on the thread guys, its our momentum which will make or break this thing!

As for my bassist friend above, why not have 2 basses? Why not? Lets challenge ourselves and see how it goes!

Open-minded but focused people who love fun is what we need!

    Lets keep going guys!

    Cheers!:D

Apologies, Dublin for the moment, its just easier that way, if I had the means to have us all over the country I would, but for the time being lets just say Dublin!

Let me know if I've left any other obvious details out!

    Thanks guys!

Thanks to everyone for their responses! i've received way more responses than I even envisaged when thinking this up!

Please keep in touch, I'm going to keep the ad up for another couple of weeks! I have guitarists by the plenty, drummers and bassists! In fact Im starting to wonder where I fit in now! lol!

Id like to see maybe if we can get some keys/electronics thrown into the mix, just to keep things as wide open as possible!

But hey, lets see what happens over next couple of weeks! And then lets get this show on the road!

Could I perhaps suggest everyone thats PM'd me also throw up a comment on the thread saying what they play, just so we can all have a continuous headcount!

    Thanks guys!

JUST A QUICK UPDATE!:Compeltely overwhelmed by the responses here everyone, great to see the enthusiasm! In the process of this I've unfortunately or fortunately (depending on how you look at it) been nabbed for another band already playing this style of music! However, as we can see above we have enough to make 2 maybe 3 bands!I've also received PM's about this! I don't think it would be fair, nay legal possibly, to name the people that PM'd me but perhaps they could put a post on the thread to make themselves known? All thats left to do is for someone to jump in here and take the lead and get a band or two together! All the resources are above! Its all yours!Happy rocking people!PS guys I'm also going to throw up a post to set up a doom metal/drone stlyed band along the lines of Electric Wizard, Cathedral etc, so keep an eye out! Hopeing to set it up as a 3 maybe 4 piece, playing heavy as hell but slow! Best of luck and thanks to all!

Guys id strongly encourage someone to jump in here and take the lead on this! Theres a wealth of musicians looking to play this style of music! Unfortunately I have to bail on this, but don't let that stop this from moving on!!! Alternatively I have another post looking to play some real heavy doom/drone tunes if you'd like to check it out! Best wishes to all!!
