Just after turning on tg4 to find one of those fast and the furious movies on.
In the light of the tragic incident in Donegal where 8 people lost their lives does anyone else agree that it is slightly insensitive to be showing a film which is basically about a load of young people flying around in souped up cars?

*not implying that this was the case in donegal but the fim basically promotes reckless driving

People die in car crashes every week. Tragedies like this happen all the time. Should they not be showing any show involving guns and crime due to a man being shot this week too? If TV stations were to do it they would never get to show anything.

I'm not trying to sound insensitive, what happened was horrible :( but you would be opening a can of worms by making a decision like this. I think only exceptional tragedies that are very rare should be treated in such a way. People die in car crashes every week.

I totally agree. 8 kids got in a VW Passat, fecked around on Donegal roads and unfortunately killed themselves and an innocent man. This is hardly any reason to stop showing cars on TV - be thankful we don't live in a country where these events aren't even reported on TV (because they are so frequent).

no its not insensitive IMO, it wouldnt even cross 99% of peoples mind. how many times have they showed this movie though, seems like its on TG$ every couple of months! ( i like TG4 by the way, have some great films/sports/documentaries on).

Had it been on BBC NI/UTV they'd have pulled it. But UK media is very touchy feely these days.

More shocking is that TG4 feel such Hollywood tripe should be fit for their "culturally superiour" station.

Any station that makes Paisean Faisean can never be accused of being 'culturally superior'. ;)

I didn't even think of that until I read your post. Car crashes happen all the time and the schedules shouldn't be disrupted imo.
