Is surfing complementary sport to running?

I don't have gym access for the summer. However I picked up surfing this summer and I really enjoy it. Do you think surfing would be a good idea to keep doing?

I am kinda worried that if I keep going with the surfing that I might not be able to do the Marathon in October.

Just back from a weekend surfing... There's no problem with keeping up the surfing IMO, it works very different muscles to running. Just try to make sure that you are getting all your training runs in and not over-tired from surfing!

I don't imagine it's going to do much for your running, but it's not going to do you any harm either, and it's such great fun!

I'll agree its great fun, and if you can actually surf all the better :) (I fell on my ass many times, twisted ankles, and was generally destroyed after the couple of weekends I went. Which reminds me its time to go again soon :D)
