    Hi,
I am thinking of moving to Blackrock village but wondered what the current situation would be like with regards to my daily commute to work?

I will be travelling from Blackrock to Ballymount Industrial Estate exit on the M50. At the moment, I'm estimating that it will take me about 30-40 mins. Am I being a bit too optimistic? I need to be in work for about 8:30 and will be travelling back to Blackrock during non peak hours so return journey will not be an issue.

I have heard that it can take anything upto a half hour just to get onto M50 at Sandyford at that time of morning. Is this accurate???

    Any tips/help appreciated

    Thanks

Leopardstown and Brewery Roads are the only bottlenecks I can think of-I come the opposite way in the morning (take the Dun Laoghaire exit off the M50) and don't notice that much traffic heading northbound.

When the schools are back, I'd imagine congestion before you get on the M50 will be worse, but I'd say 40 minutes would still do it.

I think local traffic congestion will be the biggest contributor to your time spent commuting. The M50 itself is vastly improved in the last few months due to the extra lanes and freeflows and possibly a reduction in traffic due to the recession. Travel times are now, barring accidents, pretty predictable and quick.

I go in the opposite direction, but get from my home in Swords to Sandyford Industrial Est. in 36 minutes to arrive around 8:20. This trip used to rake over an hour and I used to have to leave much earlier to avoid anything longer.

I've not noticed a queues of traffic trying to join the M50 northbound at the times that I arrive, but as another poster has said Brewery Road, and in particular the roundabout at Sandyford Industrial Estate can be busy.

    I hope that helps!
