Blueface Query

    Hi Guys

Background story - currently with Vodafone & Sky for net and tv. Planning to move to UPC for a combined tv & bb deal (halfing my monthly bill). However, UPC don't offer their phone service yet in my area.

    So I've two questions:

    1) Normally when porting your landline, you DON'T cancel your existing account, as the porting process takes care of the canceling. However, because I have VF broadband, I will need to cancel my package. So how do I go about cancelling my BB & have my existing landline number ported to Blueface at the same time?

    2) If UPC do decide to provide a phone service in my area in the future, can my already ported landline (hypothetically) be then re-ported to UPC? (I'm aware Blueface have a six month contract, so obviously after this stage)

    Cheers

Your broadband will have to be cancelled in advance of the number port. I see no reason why you would not be able to port your number to UPC from Blue Face. But if you are happy with Blue Face you may decide to stick with them.

Yeah you can port your number again if you wish. I was in the same situation as you regarding the UPC phone service not being available and started using Blueface without any problems, didn't bother moving to UPC for phone in the end, find Blueface very good and works out cheaper for me.

    Cheers guys, appreciated :)

So the advise would be to cancel my broadband only with Vodfaone, leaving the phone service in place. Then proceed with Blueface having my number ported?

Yeah I may stick with them alright, just wanted to know could that number be saved if I ever wanted to change again (its a number we have had a LONG time/too much hassle informing the regular callers etc)

Yes. There must be no active broadband service on the line when porting to BlueFace.

    Cheers guys.

Blueface recoomend that you trial their service on the UPC broadband service for a month before porting over and canceling your vodafone phone line altogether i.e. you would have two telephone services for a while.

I moved from UTV phone and broadband to UPC Broadband and Blueface Phone. The broadband is superb as is the Blueface service. Highly recommend it. And a lot cheaper. You can ATA (analogue telephone adaptors) on Ebay for about €25. Connect the ATA to your router (put in Blueface settings in ATA using your PC), connect your current house phone to the ATA and away you go!

Or if you have some nokia mobile phones and a few others with a SIP Client you can use your mobile as your landline as well as your mobile. I use my N95 for both mobile and landline.

Yeah. You can do that as well. I have the Iphone set up to do this but if there are others living in the house, they may not all have SIP friendly mobiles (as is it is in my case).
