Spring adjustment and double feeding on a G&G F2000

Before getting a chance to fire this thing, I had it packed and abroad, where the first thing I did was to switch the barrel for a hop-twist one and the hop-up bucking for a Guarder clear soft and squishy.

I'm getting the odd double-feed, which I think is related to the hop-up rubber because fiddling with that brought it down from often to occasional (there was also one occurrence of a quintuple-feed, which is mental). I remember on my previous primary AEG having the hop-up unit pushed hard up onto the barrel as far as it'd go would tend to deform the rubber's lips, so I got in the habit of backing off a millimetre or two, and have done the same here - get everything seated nice and tight, and then back off a bit before locking in place. What's the best practice in general here, and any suggestions as to what might be causing the double-feeding?

The other issue is the hotness, now that it's back in one-Joule-topia.. The instructions are notoriously poor on describing how to work the spring adjustment. The best I can figure without disassembling it (which I haven't) is that the big screw thing is just to lock it in place, and it's the part that's turned with an Allen key that does the business. If that's so, with both backed off all the way, it's still hot by around 30 feet per second (even with the hop-twist barrel in, which are supposed to drop speed). Just want to check I'm not missing something before I go hunting for a new spring.

    Thanks!

    Try PM-ing Masada?

He's always been happy to help (in my experience), and he should know how to adjust them properly.
