i plan to finish bullocks off in sept/oct off grass but with 12lbs approx of bull nuts.

however, I notice that there are about 4 or 5 which I reeckon are fit now.

question is, would it still pay me to feed these on for another 2 months or best to sell now.

they are the kinda bullocks that woudl still carry more weight without getting too fat.

    appreciate advice

Hard to say without seeing them, if they are whiteheads they could be slaughtered now, charolais or blue could take more weight. Could you get a factory agent to look at them?

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

They will carry more weight, as there that sort of bullock

I guess what I asking is would it pay me much more to keep them. Allowing for the fact that if I feed them 12lbs day over 7 weeks, it will cost me approx €70. consider that they would prob put on another 60 kilos or so, would the extra kill out due to nuts make much of a difference to the bottom line........... i.e. is the kill out from nuts much better than the grass finished animal if at all.

nuts costing €230 per ton ? fairly expensive for finishing cattle. I 'd be looking at a ration or mix somewhere around €170

I would have always used Bull nuts to finish cattle as they got the results.
what kind of ration or mix would you recommend. don't have a meal bin or anything as I'm really only a small enough enterprise. need it to be handy also as working full time

im in the same situation myself. would be interested to see if there is a ration/mix that i can use instead of the nut.

I have a dry storage room that i can get a few tonne blown in at a time.

getting the ingredients bagged and cubed into nut form is most likely going to cost 30 40 € in any case

we use a basic 14/15 % ration basically a fair amount of barley with citrus and/or beet pulp, distillers, rape, and we add in some maize for the last month or so.
