    Hi

Has anyone managed to get Maghera DTT with an indoor aerial? I am in Crusheen and cant pick it up at all. I have a usb dtt key and it works fine off main aerial, not off the little aerial that came with it.

    thanks

Ya I have it working perfectly with an internal aerial in Ballyea from Maghera, I'm using an aerial from Maplin here is the link

It's 10euro in the stores here.

Getting a good reception with an indoor aerial is never easy. I tend to use a amplified indoor aerial. But what really makes a difference is to have the aerial as close as possible to a window (possibly facing Maghera, which in my case is South!).
You've got to be very precise when calibrating your aerial, you should have some kind of gauge to help you with that.

    Good luck!

We are not getting any reception with DDT via an MPEG4 Saorview turner and an indoor aerial.

We live in Monaleen in Limerick, south of the golf course and looks like the signal from Maghera goes right over the hill. Our analogue signal was bad enough, but we get nothing via digital, signal too poor.

As we rent we can erect an external aerial.

Try a large aerial in the attic, though on on the Golf Links Road I had to fit an outdoor aerial.

Are you on the wrong place for Woodcock or Mullaghanish?

Indoor aerials generally only work if you can see the mast from the room it's in.

Talk to landlord. He may be quite happy if you have aerial professionally installed.

2 euro shop uhf aerial just about picks up Maghera DTT on outskirts of Galway city.

30 euro loft aerial is better and brings in signal level of about 70% (LG TV)

I'm in Oranmore in Galway using this aerial and I'm getting 88% signal strength.

Aerial is place on the window sill facing Maghera direction.

Agreed, with other posters, ask the landlord about putting up a proper antenna, our landlord point blank refused when we asked him...Mong!

Galway City folks should use indoor for Tonabrocky and outdoor for Maghera. Problem then is no analogue if you align to Tonabrocky. I even know someone who swivelled his VHF loft aerial to Tonabrocky and all was ticketyboos.

Woodcock Hill is what I should be looking for in Castletroy.

I have similar aerial and I get a very fuzzy analogue signal from Woodcock Hill, and not strong enough for any DTT, signal at 5%.

Bought a €30 amplified UHF indoor aerial from B&Q yesterday, it actually gets a worse reception than my €6 cheapie, so will be returning.

I think the hill that is beside/on Castletroy Golf Course is blocking the reception. I will see at the weekend how I could get a better reception.

If a €6 indoor doesn't work, you always need a proper aerial in attic.

There ARE places on Tipperary side of Golf Links Road, Monaleen, New Town, and near Superquinn that can get Mullaghanish better, and some that can't get a whiff of Maghera or Woodcock.

A few places can get Mt. Leinster! Killduff will be no help. But some places in Limerick County might get Clonmel or Mitchelstown.

    All Chimney aerials.
