Kit Homes

I am looking into the possibility of buying a plot of land and getting a kit home, maybe something similar to a log home. I've seen log homes built in Co Cavan so planning must have eased up a bit of them?

Has anyone got any experience of this kind of thing or can anyone point me in the right direction of some good websites or information?

Thanks for any help in advance.

I have built two kit homes now, one was a disaster and went very well. The first was a German kit house and went up perfectly (built in England) and the second I was trying to save a few bob and went for an Estonian manufacturer and that was disaser. The money I saved went back into the house trying to put substandard elements right.
