    Hi

I have a 407 and the particle filter error came up. I got it washed out yesterday and the mechanic told me i would need to consult the manual to find out how to do the regeneration cycle. - but i cant find the manual anywhere - would anyone know how to do this?

    Thanks in advance!

What kind of driving do you do?

Mainly city? Motorway? Do the revs go above 2500 much when you drive?

It seems that the filters regenerate by using high exhaust temps to burn away the stuff in the filter, which leaves no ash or anything that needs cleaning out afterwards.

Even though they say its automatic it may help to push the engine a bit more and use more of the rev range once its warmed up.

I'm guessing you got the message "Particle filter regeneration urgent" which comes up on the 1.6 hdi's.
This message will be displayed if there is something stopping the dpf from regenerating...it will need a diagnostic check to find out whats causing this
message..maybe post your location and maybe someone here can help out..:)

Forced regenerations cannot be preformed on the 407's not like the 307's.

Don't let the EPA know you washed it out, Its contents are listed in the hazardous waste act 1998:mad:
