    Hi All

Is there a difference between the two ? Reason I ask is I recently got a battery out of a petrol SAAB 9-5 and put it into a diesel Avensis. They look about the same size and it works fine.

If it works fine then let it run,
I would normally assume the diesel battery would have a high amperage rating, but I have a buddy with a Saab 9-3 Auto and i think the battery is around a 750 amp which is good.

Yes generally cranking current required for a diesel is greater than for a petrol engine of similar displacement...

Couple that with the demands of a cold morning; thick oil and preheaters! :)

If it works it works though.

should be fine then... but the etra draw on the battery might reduce its lifecyle... not sure by how much
