Cheaper to Get Digital TV/Cheaper to Buy New TV With FreeView?

    Hi guys,
    Need some advice.

I currently have broadband with UPC. Want to get a TV service, but also want a new TV. Can't afford both.

Here is the cheapest UPC TV package:

http://www.upc.ie/tvoffer/ (would only be 5.25 extra a month as I only have bb so pay an extra fee on top)

Here is an awesome TV for €360:

    http://www.ebuyer.com/product/166889

OK 5x12 = 60 so its cheaper to get UPC, but I was just wondering - how exactly does FreeView work?

If I bought that TV, do I have to buy more equipment to get FreeView, and how much would it cost? Also, is there an up-to-date list of freeview channels? I searched the forum, but it says theres only 4 in Ireland - thought there was like 50 or so - half of the UPC channels on digital are free anyway apparently?

    Any help really appreciated :)

Maybe you are think of Freesat?
It does work here (on any telly) but you need a Dish and setbox. Cheaper than a TV.
All BBC, ITV, C4, Five etc. About 40 usuable TV channels out of 200 and about 10 to 15 usable Radio out of 70 odd.

    Free.

Can you order channels whatever way you want in the epg with freesat?

The thing I like about having freeview access on a sony W series tv is that I can order the epg anyway I want and cut out any channel I don't like.

Currently my epg has RTE1 on 998,RTE2 on 999,BBC one wales on 1,BBC2 on 2 etc with E4,More4,Film4 together on numbers 8,9, and 10

    It's a dream of an epg :)

FTA boxes you order and delete channels anyway you want. I don't know about Freesat.

You cant order channels on freesat EPG. Its similar to the Sky EPG. They set the order of the channels. In non freesat mode you can order the channels but you only get now and next on the guide.
