ebay issue

recent sold an item, and stated that I would only send to UK or Ireland
at the last minute a french buy has put in a winning bid, and wants me to post to her

it's not about the postage cost I don't want to sell to her, I've just had some bad experiences before with posting to Europe, and register post is useless outside Ireland or UK

do you think I should send it to her anyway, or do it the way I'd prefer, sending a polite email saying I'm not going to send it, and make a 2nd chance offer to the next bidder?

My experience of the Third World European postal system (excluding Germany and Scandinavia) and eBay would suggest that posting to France is a bad idea. If you specified in your bidding requirements that you would only post to UK and Ireland I'd stick with that.

    This is totally your call.
However sending it by courier you can track it and get a signature for it. If she really wants the item then she can pay the courier cost of it.

What's her feedback like? Anything suspicious about the account or any contact you've had with her? Things like; I want to buy your item (without mentioning what it is) for my brother who is in the army and living in Nigeria, and stuff like that?

I'd price it with someone like DHL who track it properly and get a signature at the destination.
Then let her know the price.
If she wants to pay that then fine. You'll have it registered and insured to the door.

I wouldnt. As you say, irish postage tracking is useless outside UK/Ireland/Usa.

If she has already paid id refund and offer a 2nd chance offer.

(alternatively as mentioned, advise that the item was listed uk&ireland only, if she wants more she can pay addiitional postage costs with a more reliable insured courier)

Dont go through the Irish postal system - An post. Go with DHL, DPD, Fedex etc. They will cost extra but if she wants the item she will pay for the shipping. Then you have a track & trace on it.
If you get the consignment number of the parcel you can track it yourself through the couriers website and will see when she receives it.

I would point out to her that you did state on your advert that you dont ship to France however id give her the option of the courier and state the price.

thanks for the feedback guys, I suggested courier, but she didnt want to pay the extra (it's not a very high value item), she pretty much waived her right to make a paypal claim by accepting any risk if the item doesnt get to her (and I have this in a email as proof), so I feel that's sufficent cover for me to make the exception this time. (btw, for those who were asking, she has 100% feeback of 45)

That is worthless, Paypal will not care if she does raise a dispute.

Not so bad, if you're confident enough about it then go ahead.

She most certainly cant - it wont make an ounce of difference if she claims against you anyway!

Just make sure your funds are in your paypal account before you ship it(by logging onto paypal.com not clicking any links in any emails). And withdraw/spend it straight away.

that wont help, they wilkl just debit your bank account account or credit card

if you had set up the auction better you could have blocked her completely from being able to bid using buyer exclusions but u live n learn #

if u dont ship it she can report you for seller non performanace and leave negative feedback

if she says she didnt get it ,shes getting a full refund regardless

    No, they wont.

They can send debt collectors and close your ebay/paypal accounts, but they have NO authorisation to charge your bank account or credit card without your say so.

she most certaintly can if shes the winning bidder ,ebay is not exactly fair when it comes to sellers

if she won it and you refuse to post it to her they probably wont even hear your side of the case

Contrary to what you think, they can and will charge your bank account:

that case is different, if you already have a direct debit instruction given to paypal the yes, they can charge your bank account.

To do so without a valid DD authorisation is fraud and theft, and cannot be allowed
