No subtitles, but here's a synopsis of the plot:
Kyung-chul is a dangerous psychopath who kills for pleasure. He has committed infernal serial murders in diabolic ways that one cannot even imagine and his victims range from young women to even children. The police have chased him for a long time, but were unable to catch him. One day, Joo-yeon, daughter of a retired police chief becomes his prey and is found dead in a horrific state.

Her fiance Dae-hoon, a top secret agent, decides to track down the murderer himself. He promises himself that he will do everything in his power to take bloody vengeance against the killer, even if it means that he must become a monster himself to get this monstrous and inhumane killer.

Ji-woon Kim is the writer/director of the films A Tale Of Two Sisters, The Quiet Family, A Bittersweet Life and The Good, The Bad, The Weird. All in all, he's made some terrific films from many different genres so this should be equally as exceptional.

And yeah, that's Oldboy star Min-sik Choi. ;)

Ah, Darko linked me to this the other day but I hadn't a clue what it was at the time :pac:

Looks good, solid director so definitely worth keeping an eye on. Hopefully it will get a cinema release here, as more and more of these types of films just randomly turn up on DVD! Although, given that Mother has yet to show up bar the film festival, definitely no guarantee it'll get any sort of release :(

Yeah, I hope so too. If there were any justice at all, these films should get huge cinema releases. Many South Korean films are some of the very best I've seen in years. The Chaser would rank as one of the best films I've seen in the last decade, but the best mainstream audiences will see is the upcoming American remake. *Sigh*

I'll have to wait to see Mother on DVD.

Also, if you've not seen it, Memories of Murder from the same director is well worth a watch. Add that to your list as well.

Oddly, I went to see the Chaser in Cineworld in Dublin, have no idea how it managed to get in there but was nice to see in a mainstream cinema. But for the most part, yeah, DVD is the place you have to go for most Asian cinema. Chan Wook Park's stuff may get released theatrically, but that's about it!

Will do. I love these Korean movies, even though I really haven't watched enough of them.

Is The Good, The Bad, The Weird any...eh... good :)

I've seen the rest apart from The Quiet Family. Although A Bittersweet Life is due a re-watch.

    Waiting for Mother too.

Exceptionally good fun, as the title might suggest, it's very much inspired by Leone's classic films. But it's just an amazingly enjoyable adventure. I remember seeing it not long after the latest Indiana Jones film, and thinking "Yes! Now this is what Indy 4 should have been!"
I've seen the rest apart from The Quiet Family.

The Quiet Family is excellent as well, if you've ever seen Takashi Miike's The Happiness Of The Katakuris, that's what The Quiet Family was remade as. It's a wildly different film though, a very dark comedy as opposed to Miike's utterly barmy musical.

Not a bother, I'm always one to throw a good recommendation the direction of whoever wants it. ;)
