Not this year, but I did run it in 2003 and 2004. I really enjoyed it both times, though it's a testing course. Rolling for the first half, then 10km of pretty hard uphill and 10km of pretty hard downhill, just as your quads don't need it.

After all that though, you get the best finish in worldwide marathoning in the 1896 Olympic stadium.

Temperatures about 28 degrees the years I did it, and not much shade on the course, though there was a nice breeze both years.

Yeah. Was looking for a weekend away for her indoors as well so Book flights/acc in feb and reg early. It filled up very quickly just wondering was anyone else on the forum skipping Dublin for this ?

Daithi have seen its tough, but I am doing plenty of prep hill work, but temperature may catch me as most of my bad 10K/ 1/2 Marathon times have been on hot days. Just hoping to finish this, sub 4 hour would be a result.

After a week of been envious of all forumites/friends that complete Dublin on Monday, I finally get to put on my runners in anger and follow in Pheidippides footsteps, hopefully I live to tell the tale early next week

All the training done temps look favourable ~18 degs so looking good for a sub 4 but will not decide on that until I reach 35K on Sunday and see whats in the tank.

Best of luck - if you get to 31.5km in, it's literally all downhill from there.

The big mound you run around at about 5km is the tomb of the 192 Athenian soldiers who dies at the battle of Marathon 2500 years ago - at least you won't be feeling as bad as they did!
