The long term car parks are quoting me around €140 which seems a lot .

I am wondering if I can get a bus or taxi to the airport that would work out cheaper?
I haven't taken a taxi in years, how much is a taxi to the airport likely to be from Ringsend?

The Aircoach buses don't seem to stop within walking with luggage distance (Sandymount seems to be the nearest stop they have then go over the east link bridge rather than through the city centre).

Anyone know any other cheaper practical options? Heading out in September for a month away.

    Thanks :)

Depending on time of day, walk across the Eastlink from Ringsend to Point Depot, Luas to Busarus and outside Busarus take 747 to airport but give your selves heaps of time. :p

Thanks, forgot totally about the Luas option. Would take plenty of time but if it saves me a hundred Euros or so..thats time well spent. The flight is long haul so I can sleep during it anyhow.
Hm, luas going out and maybe taxi back.

You could ask Patton or Aircoach in advance if they could drop you off near Ringsend when passing over the east link on the Dalkey route. I am sure both of them would oblige at this stage seen as there is now so much competition between them. :p

Taxi from the airport to the north city centre is about 20-22 euro, so add on a bit more for south city and toll bridge (if you use it).

From Ringsend to the airport, €25 would cover you day or night rate. Be careful if you suggest the Port Tunnel the tolls would add a lot onto your trip plus the tunnel often closes late night for servicing; ditto for the Samuel Beckett Bridge.

I'd not go for the LUAS if I were you if your bags are as heavy as a long haul holiday warrants; it's a walk of several hundred metres alone from Ringsend library to the Point terminus. Plus the East Link on a wet or windy day is not nice at all!

Cheapest option is Dublin Bus. Get a 3 to say O'Connell Street and you can hop onto a 16A or 746 from here or carry onto Dorset Street and get a 41 as well. A Travel 90 ticket would cover the two bus trips for €1.80. It's sold in trips of ten but it's valid for months and months so you have them for other trips. Also, a one day ticket is €6 and it covers you for the Airlink (direct bus to and from the Airport) and your local service onwards.

Which part of Ringsend are you in?

From memory the Aircoach picks up outside the Schoolhouse pub on Northumberland rd, a stroll from Barrow st/Ringsend Rd for example.

If the bus is not feasible, just get a taxi into either Busaras or Westmoreland st to catch the Aircoach, thats what I did before as well.

Both the Aircoach Dalkey and Greystones services pick up at the Irish Glass Bottle Site on Sean Moore Road and also outside the O2 Point Depot on East Wall Road.

    Times are at:

    http://www.aircoach.ie/table.routes.dalkey.php
    http://www.aircoach.ie/table.routes.greystones.php

You can book at www.aircoach.ie - Fare is EUR 8 single and EUR 14 return.

Otherwise take a Dublin Bus route 2 or 3 to O'Connell Street and then the 747 Airlink using a one day rambler ticket for EUR 6.
