Looking for somewhere to go next weekend, not an overnight trip.

We were thinking of heading Wicklow direction - any ideas where we could park up, nice scenery and where the kids could have a safe run around?

Recently had a day out in Tollymore, near Newcastle in County Down. Great location, we will definitely have an overnight there and would recommend.

Stopped for chips on way home in Rostrevor. Put up dish and watched some World Cup. Heaven....

Might be a bit far for you... but spent the day today in Lough Boora Parklands in Co Offally and it really was a change form the normal hussle and bussle. If you fish bring a fly rod.. nice stocked brownies in the loch dochas beside boora. loads of parking

    For anybody interested

Travelled to Blessington and stopped at Charles Camping where we had to spend money !! We bought a whistling kettle so no more hot water in flasks for us plus French campsite book so it looks like France next Summer......

On to Valleymount with a stop off at the lake side for skimming stones.

Various stops along way to take in the view which at times was breathtaking. We really have some lovely scenery in this small country of ours. And other stops so the kids could look at the sheep through the binoculars !!

On to Glendalough which was vantastic. Clean, spacious and lost of grass for kids to run around and kick ball. A number of picnic benches but we ate inside because of rain. Toilets here are clean and safe.

On to Enniskerry but it was 8pm at this stage so we didn't make it to Powerscourt. Stopped at Johnnie Foxes. Kids enjoyed the quirky things and the music was just getting going when we left. Could have stayed longer.

Home by 11pm and all exhausted in bed by 11:15. We left the clean up until today.

    Good day out.
