Just saw hit and run (car on car)
Drove into my local Maxol to get some supplies. As I arrive the parking is a little crazy so I'm waiting for a spot to pull into. A passat is reversing very quickly and wallop it hits an astra at the pumps. There is a bang and woman in shop looks out the window. Passat drives out of the garage on it merry way. Realising that some poor chap has damage to his car I give chase for 200 meters to get the reg. I get the reg and am just in the middle of turning to head back to the garage when I spot the local squad car down the one way street that the passat has just taken. So I make my way down this one way street toward the Gardai and alert them that the Passat that just passed hit a car in the petrol station. They give chase and take a left at the bottom of one way street. I take a right and spot the passat. I sit back and wait for the Gardai to return ( I knew they'd realsie quicklly there mistake and come back my way.) I point out the car and let them do there business.

I return to maxol to let the owner of car know I got the details, but he\she is gone. Doesn't even realise that his\her car was hit. Woman in shop heard the bang but didn't realise what happened. Nothing the Gardai can do until owner of vehicle reports it.

The garage will have the reg of the Astra on CCTV, the Gardaí can get it from them.

    Tattletale!

Just kiddin. My o/h had the entire side of his car torn off by one of those A1 disposal lorries before. Bastard drove into it so bad that he had to reverse back before he could drive forward and clear it. Luckily there was a girl across the road working in a pharmacy that saw it all, took the reg and put a letter on the windscreen! Of course A1 denied it all saying they had no trucks in the area but there was footage from the credit union CCTV the car was parked outside, they obliged to show it and the car got fixed.

But i think if I ever hit a car I'd do the honourable thing and leave the details!

Good work kikel, hope they trace the Astra owner. With any luvk they will throw the book at the passat owner , it makes me mad thinking they just can hit someone and think they can ger away with it.

    Good stuff....

Give you a laugh.. had a car in work before, hit and run, someone hit the back did a lot of damage and disapeared leaving no note or anything...

on closer inspection of the damaged car we could see the imprint of the reg plate of the other car in the dust and paint work....

other driver thought he got away scott free.. till he ended up in court..

well i thought it was funni :p

Its good to see karma coming back on someone like that.. :D

Happened to me about 2 months ago, the drivers side of my car reefed by one of the wheelie bin trucks.. driver gets out, has a good look and was about to drive off when a taxi driver sees them and takes details.

The guy reported it to the Gardai, but never came back to put his details on my car as instructed by the Gardai, never told his employers, the company who owned the truck and never bother contacting the Gardai back about it again as instructed..

I think they might be going after him but not sure.

Company sorted it all without any issues though, so hats off to them for that.

Fair play to you OP, I wish there were more people like that out there.

    Tox
