    Hello, I have a 2005 Audi A3, 3 door, 2 litre diesel.
have it about 2 months now and all going well, however at the weekend something strange happened.

I was driving at about 30mph and heard this nosie coming from back wheel, initially I thought it was a flat, but on investigation was not, I slowed down completely, came to a stop and drove forward in first and reversed also, sound was like 2 pieces of steel scratching offf each other giving a screeching noise. drove it a couple miles home anyways and tested it agian by driving forward and reversing and noise was still there, checked out back tyre and could not find anything wrong ( was expecting to find something jammed in it )

since this, have not been able to re produce this screeching noise and drove from Galway to Dublin on it yersterday with no noise coming from it since

was just a bit un nerving and worrying when I heard this of what sounded like 2 pieces of steel grating off each other

anyone have any idea as to what this could be ?

or has anyone else experienced this ?

It might just have been a bit of grit lodged between the rear pad & disc.

Possibly grit - but maybe the pads are almost worn. It might a good idea to have them checked - just in case.
