90% + of the time a recruitment agent will earn their commission by charging a % of your salary to the employer.

    There are different approaches:

Sometimes you'll become and employee of the company, and the agent will charge the company a fixed fee (usually % of your salary) provided you last for a certain length of time.

Other times you'll become and employee of the agent, and the company will see you as an agency worker. In this case, the agent bills the company for you (at a rate you'll never know), and keeps the difference between this and your salary.
